Badlands Overture
was first published in 1978 and is available once again. It is one of only a few
compositions for synthesizer and concert band and has been performed by the
composer in concerts throughout the country.
From the original performance notes:
Badlands Overture,
written to showcase the lyrical capabilities of the synthesizer, is neither an
avant garde composition nor a work calling for the total resources of the
instrument. The synthesizer is used only in a tonal context to give a fairly
straightforward piece of program music a sonic "edge" impossible to duplicate
with acoustic instruments.
